Shehu Sani, the ex-legislator who previously represented Kaduna Central senatorial district at the National Assembly, has called on Ayodele Fayose – former governor of Ekiti State – to apologize to Northern locals due to his remarks about them.

During a Channels Television program on Monday evening, Fayose caused controversy by suggesting that the reason for Nigeria’s underdevelopment was due to northerners marrying multiple wives and having numerous children without discretion. As a result of this practice, they create significant issues for both Nigeria as well as their government services.

Fayose stated that Tinubu faces challenges in developing Nigeria due to the fact that Northerners are having children they cannot provide for.

On Tuesday, the former lawmaker responded on his official X handle and expressed that he found Fayose’s statement to be unpleasant.

Despite speaking in his personal capacity, Fayose’s alleged comment regarding Northerners is disrespectful and unacceptable.

According to Sani, it would be advisable for him to retract the statement humbly and apologize as a leader.
