To prevent an impending impeachment and removal from office, Philip Shaibu, the deputy governor of Edo State, has gone before the court to ask for protection from his boss, Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The appellant requests an order of interlocutory injunction to stop the respondents or their agents from harassing, intimidating, embarrassing or preventing the applicant from performing the duties of his office as deputy governor of Edo State, including attending State Executive Council meetings and other functions, while the court is still deliberating the appeal. The motion was filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja and made available to newsmen on Thursday.
Investigations found that there had been tension between Governor Godwin Obaseki and Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu in the state house in Benin City during the previous two months, according to Obasanjonews24.
According to sources, Shaibu was allegedly dehumanised and humiliated by his principal after appearing alongside Senator Adams Oshiomhole in a widely circulated video taken at the National Assembly’s opening in Abuja.
According to a second source, the governor allegedly called all PDP members of the Edo State House of Assembly—but not his deputy—to his residence a few days after the Abuja viral video, which was highly unusual.
The constable, who had been informed about the meeting, drove right up to the governor’s residence, but was embarrassed and rejected by the DSS staff when they informed him that he was not on their list of invitees.
The source claims that the DSS agents may have been instructed not to let him in because of his supposed treason and his connections to Senators Adams Oshiomhole and Lawrence Oka.
According to reliable sources, the conference was called to divide up the leadership roles in advance of the next day’s inauguration, which served as a prelude to destroying Philip’s political ambitions and career.
All attempts to contact the deputy governor or his media assistants, however, were futile.
The court documents, which named the Inspector General of Police, the State Security Service, the Governor of Edo State, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, and the Chief Judge of Edo State as defendants, were acquired by this paper in the meantime.
The former deputy governor, Mike Ogiadomhe, and a former chief judge reportedly intervened right away by calling the pair to mediate a resolution to the governor and his deputy’s ongoing cold war.
