The impeached Deputy Governor of Edo, Mr. Philip Shaibu, expressed his intention on Tuesday to contest the selection of Asue Ighodalo as the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the upcoming state election at the highest judicial level.
A Federal High Court in Abuja ruled on Monday against Shaibu’s lawsuit to invalidate the February 22 governorship primary that resulted in Ighodalo’s selection as the PDP candidate, citing Shaibu’s lack of legal standing due to his limited participation in the primary.
Despite the court’s decision, Shaibu remains determined to challenge Ighodalo’s victory, claiming that he secured the election with the genuine delegates and expressing confidence in the judiciary’s ability to deliver justice in the matter of his impeachment and the primary outcome.
