It seems that the bad relationship between Governor Godwin Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu, has not improved. Shaibu had requested that the weekly Tuesday Mass be held in the Government House Chapel, but now it is held at his new office outside the government house.

Shaibu and his spouse were among the civil officials from his office, along with a few aides and political associates, who attended the mass in the open field next to the newly appointed deputy governor’s office along Commercial Avenue.

Although it was learned that the chapel was being renovated, further research revealed that the same space had just undergone renovations and painting.

It is crucial to affirm unequivocally that the Government House chapel is fully operational and serving the residents’ spiritual needs.
It is important to emphasise that the Governor and his spouse are devout Christians, making it unreasonable for them to close the Government House Chapel.
