SGF Akume Tells Atiku: ‘God Can Still Make You Nigerian President at 90
Nigerian SGF George Akume encourages Atiku Abubakar, stating that age is no barrier to leadership, as God can still make him president even at 90.
George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has stated that it is possible for Atiku Abubakar, a former presidential candidate from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to become Nigeria’s president even at 90 years old through God’s will.
Akume advised prominent northern politicians to refrain from running against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
During a Sunday interview with TVC, the SGF emphasized that 2027 remains the South’s opportunity to produce a president.
Akume stated that if it is God’s will for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to become the President of Nigeria, he can achieve this even at 90 years old. However, Akume advised that both Atiku and other northern aspirants should consider opportunities beyond 2027.
The former governor of Benue State also stated that despite the tax reform bills and other strategic economic decisions made, Tinubu has not lost the goodwill of Nigerians.
Akume urged Nigerians to permit the bills to proceed through the necessary legislative processes.
“They have a clear vision for Nigeria and its people,” he added.
In previous years, Atiku had made multiple attempts to become president but was unsuccessful. In 2023, he finished second to President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress.
However, some of his aides, such as Segun, have mentioned that the former Vice President has not yet disclosed his intentions regarding a presidential run in 2027.
Sowunmi mentioned, “Atiku has not explicitly stated his intention to run; I have inquired twice over the course of several months.”
