A suspected explosive device went off in the Nayinawa woodland region of Damaturu, the capital of Yobe State, injuring a 7-year-old Almajiri student.
According to reports, the event happened at 9 am on Sunday when a loud noise caused the locals to flee for safety.
There were no recorded fatalities, though.
The Anti-Bomb Squad has been sent to the location of the incident, according to Dungus Abdulkarim, the Yobe State police public relations officer, even if the incident’s exact cause is yet unknown.
“Yes, we are aware of the occurrence; however, the details are still vague.
Our Anti-Bomb Squad has been sent to the area, and we will keep you updated on the situation, the police spokesperson stated.
Since he was the only person hurt, the sufferer was sent to the hospital for medicine.
A chisel and knife, according to some witnesses, were allegedly discovered on the carpet where the crime occurred.
It has been a while since we have heard such a frantic sound.
When I arrived at the site, I spotted a chisel and knife among other equipment, said a local who went by the name of Adamu Hassan. “I was walking to the market when the event happened.
The sufferer was thereafter taken urgently to a Damaturu specialty hospital for treatment.
Yobe is one of the North-Eastern states impacted by the more than ten-year-old Boko Haram insurgency. Borno and Adamawa are neighboring states.
If the militants were involved in Sunday’s blast is yet unknown.
Approximately seven months have passed since a comparable explosion at a spa in Yobe State’s Abasha Ward’s Gashua Local Government Area.
One verified fatality and seven confirmed injuries resulted from the incident on April 24 in a tavern where several locals were drinking.
