Senate has rescheduled its plenary session and is expected to pass the 2024 Appropriation Bill on Saturday
The plenary sitting of the Senate, originally scheduled for Friday, December 29th, 2023, has been postponed to Saturday, December 30th, 2023.
This decision was made in order to pass the 2024 Appropriation Bill, which was forwarded to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu. Last week, the Senate had adjourned plenary to allow members to celebrate Christmas with their families and friends.
The Clerk of Senate, Chinedu Francis Akubueze, signed a statement yesterday to inform the Distinguished Senators about the postponement. The statement expresses regret for any inconvenience caused by this shift in schedule.
It is important to note that President Tinubu had presented a total aggregate expenditure of N27.5 trillion for the 2024 Appropriation Bill to the National Assembly. He also announced the adoption of the “revised 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP)” as the parameters for the 2024 budget.
Additionally, President Tinubu outlined his administration’s plan to achieve a minimum economic growth rate of 3.76 percent, surpassing the world average.
He emphasized the need to overhaul the nation’s internal security architecture to enhance law enforcement capabilities and ensure the safety of lives, property, and investments across the country.
