Senate has confirmed Tunji Olaopa’s appointment as FCSC Chairman

Prof. Tunji Olaopa’s appointment to the position of Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) has been confirmed by the Senate.

The Senate Committee on Public Service and Establishment approved its report in front of the Committee of the Whole on Tuesday.

Eleven more FCSC members from other federation states were also confirmed by the senate.

The report’s presenter, Senator Oluwole Cyril, asked the Senate to take President Bola Tinubu’s appeal for the approval of the nomination for the position of Chairman into consideration.

He stated that the request was made in accordance with Federal Republic of Nigeria’s 1999 Constitution, as amended, Section 154, Subsection 1.

He stated that the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters provided materials to the committee for use in the screening of the nominations (Senate).

Resumes, police clearance reports, and asset declaration paperwork were among the materials he mentioned.

According to him, the committee discussed the nominees’ credentials, backgrounds, and levels of competence as well as whether or not they should be appointed.

He declared that they were extremely qualified for the position and that no negative security reports or petitions had been filed against them.

He asked the Senate to ratify their appointments, stating that they have the necessary training, expertise, and experience to be appointed.

The Senate subsequently affirmed their appointment.

Dr. Dauda Jalo (Adamawa, Gombe, and Taraba), Mr. Ededet Eyoma (Akwa-Ibom and Cross River), and Dr. Chambalin Nweke (Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu States) were among those confirmed as members of the FCSC.

Dr. Adamu Hussein (FCT and Niger) and Mr. Rufus Godwin (Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers) were the others.
