The Senate has moved up the deadline for passing the 2023 budget to December 28, 2022.
The lawmakers also delayed the Finance Bill’s passage until December 28.
Ahmad Lawan, the Senate President, made these declarations on Thursday during plenary.
He explained that the Senate is waiting to pass the budget because it is hard to get the report from the appropriations committee on the 2023 budget.
The National Assembly was given a budget bill from the executive that had some problems, he said. When the committee tried to match up the numbers, the problem became clear and hard to deal with.
Senator Lawan added that the executive was included in the budget cleanup process that the Senate Appropriations Committee had started with the 2023 budget.
The procedure was finished on Wednesday, December 21, but the committee was unable to finish assembling the report in time for submission on Thursday.
