Lere Oyewumi, the deputy minority leader in the Senate, claimed that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) national leadership is managing concerns about the behaviour of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike diplomatically.
Senator Oyewumi, who represents the Osun West Senatorial District in Osun State, stated that the party’s leadership knew the best course of action and insisted that removing someone from the party was frequently politicised.
At a news conference held on Friday in Ikire, he revealed this in response to queries from reporters.
Nyesom Wike, a well-known PDP leader who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under President Bola Tinubu, has come under fire for his actions.
Wike would be kicked out of the PDP at the proper time, according to Daniel Bwala, a former adviser to Abubakar Atiku, the party’s presidential candidate in the general elections of 2023.
However, Wike is our leader, a well-known leader, and the [former] governor of Rivers State, where the PDP did amazingly well in the most recent election, according to Oyewumi. He was one of the governors in the PDP who never missed a party event.
I’m confident the party leadership and the national working committee are handling things better than Wike, who may be reacting to some difficulties.
“Removing anyone is occasionally exaggerated and politicised, but I am confident that those in charge of the party’s affairs are aware of when to make the best choice, and they will continue to do so for the benefit of the party.”
