Senator Sunday Karimi was duly elected to the National Assembly to represent the Kogi West senatorial district, according to the Lokoja-based Election Petition Tribunal.
After reviewing the case before it, the tribunal issued a decision affirming Senator Karimi’s election and dismissing the petitioner’s whole claim as utterly without merit and without any foundation.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Karimi received the majority of the valid votes cast in the election, the tribunal claimed. As a result, it fined plaintiff T.J. Yusuf of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a total of.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, Yusuf had petitioned the tribunal on the grounds that the BVAS machine was not being used in some regions and accused the ruling APC of manipulating the senatorial election in Kogi West in 2023.
Karimi responded to the court’s decision by saying: “The decision to support me on the vote has been further proven. Through her decision affirming my return and dismissing the petitioner’s case on all grounds, the judiciary has once again stood up for the truth, safeguarded our democracy, and firmly established the rule of law.
