Segun Arinze, a well-known actor in Nollywood, clarified that he has never engaged in smoking cigarettes or using hard drugs in his personal life, stating that he only portrayed such actions while acting in films.

This revelation was made by the actor during the National Stakeholders’ Engagement on the ‘Smoke-Free Nollywood’ initiative held in Enugu, a campaign organized by the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) in partnership with Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA).

The event was attended by esteemed individuals in the Nigerian film industry, including veteran filmmakers, producers, scriptwriters, marketers, distributors, and prominent figures like Zeb Ejiro, Fred Amata, Bolaji Amusan, and The Aneke Twins, as well as leaders of various guilds and associations.

Segun Arinze emphasized that his on-screen portrayal of smoking and drug use was solely for cinematic purposes, pointing out that he always coughed during those scenes in movies.

Alongside other participants, the actor pledged his commitment to supporting the campaign aimed at discouraging the depiction of smoking and harmful substance consumption in Nollywood productions.
