A significant campaign on the value of seeds in the growth of Nigerian agriculture will be launched by the Seeds Entrepreneurs and growth Association of Nigeria (SEEDAN).

Alhaji Yusuf Ado Kibiya, the Association’s national president, revealed this information to newsmen in Kano on Tuesday and added that the campaign was a component of the Association’s mission.

According to Kibiya, the programme is being undertaken “so that Government leaders at all levels could appreciate the importance of seeds to the development of Agriculture.”

He claimed that another goal of the project was to help farmers recognise the contribution that modern seeds may make to their production.

Additionally, he stated that the group would collaborate with international organisations eager to support Nigeria’s seed industry for the benefit of farmers in Nigeria.

The association’s mission, according to the president, also involves collaborating with and assisting universities and research centres in the creation of early-generation seeds for the benefit of the seed trade and Nigerian farmers.

He added that the group would engage with financial institutions “to make financial access affordable and less onerous” in order to increase the value of the seed industry.

He said that the association would build an appropriate office building with workspaces in Abuja and each of the nation’s six geopolitical zones.
