The All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is leading a team that President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting in the Council Chambers of the State House in Abuja to discuss a paper that contains important proposals for ending farmer-herder confrontations across the country.
The Service Chiefs are also present at the 3:00 p.m. meeting.
As tensions over fertile land resources simmer between farmers and herders in the nation’s north central area, hundreds of people have perished in farmer-herder conflicts in Nigeria since 1999.
At a recent stakeholders’ interactive session hosted by the House Ad-hoc Committee, Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, estimated that approximately 60,000 lives had been lost overall.
