In a statement issued on Saturday, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, said that three suspects were also detained as part of the well-coordinated operation by the police-led Forward Operating Base (FOB), which is made up of military and paramilitary Services based in Aguata.
He claimed that nine vehicles, three pump action rifles, a camouflage suit that had been stolen, a Biafra flag, many handsets, flash drives, and SIM cards had all been found by the security forces. These items will help with a thorough investigation and conviction.
The gang, according to a police official, has recently been involved in a wave of kidnappings in Orumba North and South as well as some areas of Aguata LGAs.
He claimed that all of the victims of kidnapping had been taken this month.
DSP Ikenga highlighted that months of meticulous intelligence collection and investigation led to the discovery of the criminal’s hiding, and the raid on the militants’ camp was the culmination of those efforts.
According to the statement, CP Aderemi Adeoye, the commissioner of police for Anambra State, who oversaw the operation and gave the order, complimented all the military personnel and vigilante men engaged for their professionalism in making sure no lives were lost.
The governor, Chukwuma Soludo, was also praised for the work of the agents, and he promised to support all state agencies engaged in joint security operations in the future, according to the report.
