Prudent Umadike, a 31-year-old security guard working at a television repair shop in Lebanon St. Dugbe, Ibadan, was brought before a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan by the police on Friday.
He was charged with the crimes of housebreaking and theft. However, Umadike pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
The court was informed by the prosecutor, Mr. Philip Amusan, that the defendant allegedly committed the offense on April 16, around 6:30 a.m.
It was alleged that Umadike forcefully gained entry into a shop owned by Anuoluwapo Adetoun and stole 50 television picture boards valued at N750,000.

Mr. Amusan stated that the defendant’s actions were in violation of Sections 413 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
These sections pertain to housebreaking and theft. The Court President, Mrs. Moji Aworemi, granted the defendant bail in the amount of N350,000.
The bail was to be secured by two sureties who must provide evidence of three years of tax clearance and prove their blood relation to the defendant.
The case was subsequently adjourned until May 23 for further hearing.
