The Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State is home to a plant where illegal gun manufacturing is taking place, according to the Joint Security Forces.
The factory yielded a variety of weapons in various shapes, including battle gear, a stash of weapons, and military camouflage.
According to Operation Safe Haven sources, troops of Hakorin Damisa IV during the course of a week-long intelligence operation managed to apprehend a wanted gunrunner who had been on the Operation Safe Haven wanted list for security breach within Southern Kaduna and surroundings.
A hidden facility that produced and distributed weapons of various calibres to crisis merchants in Kaduna and the Plateau states was eventually located by troops after the suspect led them there.
Twenty two different weapons were found after a comprehensive investigation of the facility, including seven handguns, two AK 47 rifles made locally, two military-grade AK 47 rifles, and nine revolvers.
Other things found were a submachine gun, 7.62mm rounds of special ammunition, machine tools and a welding gas cylinder.
A cache of firearms, outfits from the military and police, masks, and other potentially lethal weaponry were found when authorities searched another hideout near the Adua town of Kafanchan during a separate sting operation.
Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, who is also the commander of Operation Safe Haven for the Nigerian Army’s 3rd Division, praised the soldiers for their tenacity and fortitude while also promising that all evading syndicate members would be apprehended and made to face the full force of the law.
