Nigeria’s Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu highlights security threats as a major factor prolonging the blackout in Northern Nigeria, calling for increased security measures.
Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, stated that security threats have caused ongoing blackouts in Northern Nigerian states.
Adelabu revealed this information at a press conference held on Tuesday.
Providing an update on the ongoing blackout in Northern Nigeria, Adelabu clarified that the repair of the vandalized Shiroro-Kaduna Line has been delayed due to security threats.
“This instance was more serious, and he mentioned that repairs have been postponed due to security threats.”
According to reports, Adelabu promised that the power supply in the region will be restored by the end of this week.
The minister’s update follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to him and the responsible agency to restore power supply in Northern Nigeria after several days of blackout.
Remember that Nigerians on Monday demanded the dismissal of Adelabu due to several days of ongoing power outages in Northern Nigeria.
