S’Court hears Atiku and Obi today, Gbajabiamila, Ribadu, and others arrive
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, have arrived at the Supreme Court.
Others include, among others, the acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, and Nigeria’s Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Advisor.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku Abubakar, the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and APM will all make applications to the top court asking that President Bola Tinubu’s victory be declared invalid.
Last week, the Supreme Court set today for the hearing of the appeals Atiku and Obi, as well as their political parties and the APM, filed to overturn the decision of the Presidential Election Petitions Court (PEPC), which upheld President Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
In a decision issued on September 6, 2023, the PEPC had dismissed all petitions contesting the declaration of Tinubu as the victor of the presidential election held on February 25 on the grounds that the petitioners had failed to substantiate the claims made in the petitions.
The petitioners contacted the top court with an appeal, hoping to have the lower court’s decision overturned because they were unhappy with it.
