A tragic explosion involving two petrol tankers at a filling station has left scores feared dead. Authorities are responding to the incident as investigations begin.

A catastrophic explosion took place at an MRS filling station close to Yola International Airport in Adamawa State, with several individuals feared dead.

According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred while fuel was being unloaded from a tanker. The situation worsened when two fuel-laden tankers erupted, leading to widespread panic and causing significant damage in the area.

“A nearby businessman described the incident: ‘We heard a loud bang, and the filling station went up in flames while a fuel tanker was offloading.’”

The explosion triggered massive flames that have engulfed the station and surrounding areas, with several vehicles also caught in the fire.

At the same time, firefighters from the Adamawa State Fire Service, Federal Fire Service, and the American University of Nigeria (AUN) are striving to control the flames.
