Saraki’s lawsuits against the EFCC and ICPC were dismissed by the court

Saraki’s claims against the EFCC were dismissed by the court, and ICPCEx-Senate President Bukola Saraki filed two separate lawsuits, both of which were dismissed by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Saraki filed a lawsuit against the Code of Conduct Bureau, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. 

The lawsuits were dismissed on Wednesday by Justice Inyang Ekwo for failing to pursue them diligently. 

Both Saraki’s attorney and the attorneys representing the defendants were absent from the hearing.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Inspector General of Police, and Department of State Security, DSS, were co-defendants in the lawsuits filed by the former governor of Kwara, FHC/ABJ/CS/507/2019 and FHC/ABJ/CS/508/2019. 

Saraki contested the EFCC’s intention to look into his earnings while he was governor from 2003 to 2011 in 2019.

A temporary order of forfeiture imposed in October 2019 was overturned by the Federal High Court in Lagos in March 2021. 

The EFCC’s bid to seize Saraki’s properties on Nos. 17 and 17A, MacDonald Road, Ikoyi, was later allowed by the court.
