In the early hours of Saturday, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, returned to the Kano Emir’s Palace. As he appeared on a house with the royal umbrella, symbolizing his position as the emir, he received a warm welcome from his supporters.
This event took place despite a court order prohibiting his reinstatement, which the state Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, stated was not officially submitted to them. Gwarzo emphasized that the reinstatement was done legally and that any court order on the matter came too late.
The bill was signed into law by the governor in the presence of the deputy governor, Aminu Abdulsalam, Speaker Isma’il Falgore, and the SSG, Abdullahi Bichi.
Following the signing, the governor declared the reinstatement of Emir Sanusi II, who had been removed from his position by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2020.
Emir Sanusi expressed that his reinstatement was a divine occurrence when he received the appointment letter from Governor Yusuf at an official event.
Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II was seen on a horse with the royal umbrella, symbolizing his status as the Emir, as he made remarks at the Government House in Kano after receiving the letter of reappointment.
