Nigerians have been urged not to demonise the country’s judiciary by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Mba Ukweni.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria OBASANJO NEWS24 on Thursday in Calabar, Ukweni made the statement.

In response to the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling, which was given in Abuja on September 6, a legal expert stated that the judges of the tribunal based their decisions on the evidence presented to them and the law.

Anyone who was not satisfied with the verdicts had a channel to the Supreme Court, according to the senior lawyer.

“I object to circumstances in which the judiciary is criticised to the point of intimidation because of its work. In this nation, the judiciary has faced many difficulties.

“There has been the issue of improper interference with the judiciary, which is a branch of the government that is meant to be impartial and independent from the other branches.

“Judges are flawed people. Only God is, therefore. The general public ought to exercise some patience with the judiciary, he said.

Strong institutions are what Nigeria needs most, he continued, as a country.
