Late on Thursday night, the Lagos State Police Command announced that controversial Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, had been detained as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder of musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, nicknamed Mohbad.
However, information on the prominent music promoter’s arrest has come to light.
He was detained at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Thursday night, according to a police source who asked not to be identified because he was not licenced to comment on the subject.
Sam Larry, who had just come from Kenya, had been detained at the airport, the man stated. He was detained by our officials at the airport, and they immediately took him to the state police’s main office to question him.
Sam Larry’s name had been spoken frequently ever since the call for justice in the death of Mohbad gained momentum.
Azeez Fashola, nicknamed Naira Marley, the former head of late Mohbad’s music company, revealed his intention to return to Nigeria if his safety could be assured, which led to his detention.
The two had previously been invited by the police to be questioned about Mohbad’s passing.
While they awaited the results, the police last week also revealed that pathologists had finished the autopsy of Mohbad.

The nurse who allegedly gave the musician an injection before his passing on Tuesday, September 12, had also been detained by police.
