The Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG), a non-governmental organization (NGO), has urged all Nigerians to rally behind President Bola Tinubu’s administration, assuring them that the current economic challenges will soon be overcome.

The MMWG also emphasized the need for political reform in order to transition from a Presidential system of democracy to a Parliamentary one, which they believe will promote good governance and foster social, economic, and political development.

They argued that the current system favors political officeholders rather than the masses, and attributed the current economic hardships, exacerbated by the withdrawal of petrol subsidies, to past bad leadership, insincerity, and corruption.

In a statement released by the National Coordinator of MMWG, Abdullahi Ibrahim, to mark the end of Ramadan, the organization expressed optimism that the implementation of certain measures would lead to a reduction in fuel prices, subsequently lowering the cost of goods and services.

They also highlighted the positive impact of the government’s economic policies on the strengthening of the Naira against the dollar, emphasizing the need for collective support in order to further improve the nation’s economy.

MMWG emphasized the crucial role of electricity in driving economic development and called on both the federal and state governments to take immediate and practical steps to stabilize power supply in the country.

They argued that despite the economic measures and policies implemented by the current administration, there are still loopholes that allow for excessive corruption, hindering the positive impact on the lives of the people.

The organization called on patriotic Nigerians, civil society organizations, religious leaders, and well-meaning individuals to advocate for pragmatic steps that would lead to a new political order, specifically a transition from a Presidential to a Parliamentary system of governance.
