The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Bauchi State in the March 18 governorship election, Air Marshal Abubakar Baba Saddique (retd), promised on Monday to fight for what he called the mandate freely given to him by the state’s citizens at the tribunal, even as he urged his party’s supporters not to lose hope regarding the outcome of the governorship election in the state.

Shortly after returning from a trip outside the state, Saddique, the recently-retired Nigerian ambassador to the Niger Republic, made the statement in a press conference at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport in Bauchi. He claimed that he has faith that the legal system will find the mandate that was taken.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stole Saddique’s mandate, but the Nigerian judiciary, which is dependable, will uphold the petition before the state’s election petition tribunal and ensure that he receives his mandate back, according to Saddique, who is also the recently retired Chief of Air Staff.

“We have hope in God and the legal system to recover our stolen mandate, Insha Allah,” he stated. I aspire to have faith in Nigeria’s judicial system, and I am confident that we will ultimately regain our mandate. When we find the mandate, we make a commitment to the populace that we will act right away.

“The APC will continue to be the political force to be defeated not just in Bauchi State but throughout the nation.”

In the March 18 election, Saddique finished second to PDP candidate and current Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

The governorship candidate urged the state’s APC supporters to remain devoted to the party’s agenda while urging them to exercise patience and hope.

“I want to remind them to remain positive and patient. We won the governor’s race, and we’re ready to show it at the tribunal, therefore I’m prepared to pursue the struggle to restore this mandate by legal means, he declared.
