A Russian woman has been murdered in what is believed to be a terrorist attack in Israel, raising concerns over escalating violence in the region.

On Friday, an elderly woman was tragically stabbed to death in the Israeli coastal city of Herzliya, with authorities classifying it as a terrorist attack. Local media have identified the 83-year-old victim as a Holocaust survivor who was born in Russia.

According to Israeli media reports, Ludmila Lipovskaya was assaulted outside her nursing home. She was urgently transported to a hospital in Tel Aviv with multiple chest injuries and sadly passed away as she remained in critical condition.

According to officials, the suspect is a Palestinian man in his late 20s who formerly served as an informant for the security service Shin Bet. After being exposed, he was relocated from the West Bank to Israel, as reported by the agency.

According to reports, the military instructed that his name not be disclosed. However, some outlets had already identified him as Ibrahim Shalhoub from Tulkarem in the West Bank.

Since relocating to Israel, he has had multiple encounters with Israeli law. Media reports indicated that he was incarcerated until June of this year. According to officials, the assailant was subdued and taken into custody at the scene.

According to graphic footage circulating online, the attack and subsequent neutralization of the perpetrator were recorded. CCTV video seems to depict him pushing the victim to the ground and stabbing her multiple times.

In another clip recorded by a witness, cries for assistance are audible, including some in Russian, before several gunshots ring out. Reports indicate that security guards who responded to the incident wounded the attacker.
