A Russian assault on the city of Kharkiv in Ukraine has resulted in the deaths of at least six people and left dozens injured, intensifying the ongoing conflict.

Ukrainian officials report that an assault by the Russians on Kharkiv in eastern Ukraine resulted in at least six fatalities, among them a 14-year-old girl. Many others were injured as well.

On Friday, Kharkiv mayor Ihor Terekhov issued a statement on the Telegram messaging app asserting that the occupiers were responsible for killing a child directly on the playground.

He said that the attack caused a fire in a 12-storey apartment block, resulting in three fatalities.

After the attack, Kharkiv regional Governor Oleg Synegubov announced via a Telegram post that six people had sadly lost their lives.

Interior Minister Igor Klymenko stated that one of the individuals who died was a 14-year-old girl.

He stated that a minimum of 55 individuals were injured.

A residential building’s upper floors were shown in a video shared by Andriy Yermak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s chief of staff. The footage depicted massive flames and thick black smoke billowing upwards.

Yermak reported on Telegram that civilians were targeted by Russians once more.

For a considerable period, Russian assaults have been focused on Kharkiv, the second largest city of Ukraine and its neighboring territory through destructive guided bombs.

Kharkiv was the target of Moscow’s initial invasion, but their forces failed to capture it. However, in May they commenced another attack on the area with a ground offensive.

Zelenskyy expressed through a post on social media that robust decisions from our allies are imperative to put an end to this terror.

Referring to Kyiv’s appeals for the removal of limitations on using Western-supplied missiles inside Russian territory, he emphasized that long-range capabilities are essential.

He added that the implementation of air defence agreements for Ukraine is necessary to save lives.

According to local authorities, Russian attacks in Sumy – a neighboring region of Kharkiv – resulted in the death of at least two individuals and left eight others injured.

According to the Kremlin, its forces have not been targeting civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

Russia announced on Friday that it had seized three additional villages in eastern Ukraine, as Kyiv launched a significant cross-border attack into Russian territory while Russia continues to make progress.

According to a report released on its Telegram channel, the defence ministry of Russia has declared that their troops have taken control over towns in Ukraine’s Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv areas.

The main logistics center of Pokrovsk, which Kiev describes as a challenging and fierce battleground, seems to be receiving Moscow’s concentrated attacks.

On Friday, Oleksandr Syrskii, Ukraine’s commander-in-chief stated that the utmost challenge was in the Pokrovsk vicinity where their adversaries were attempting to breach through their military barricades.

Additionally, he stated that the troops of Kyiv were persisting in their advance through Russia’s western Kursk region. Earlier this week, they announced to have seized authority over 100 border settlements in the area.

On Friday, the EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell reported that the defence ministers of the European Union have concurred to conduct training for Ukrainian forces as close to their war-ravaged nation as feasible while avoiding carrying out such operations on Ukrainian territory.

Following a meeting of the ministers in Brussels, Borrell stated that they had reached an agreement regarding the EU’s training mission. The goal is to train 75,000 Ukrainian troops by year end; currently, they have trained 60,000 soldiers.

Training soldiers in Ukraine has received the support of various EU countries including Estonia, France and Sweden. Hungary is among the countries that are hesitant to endorse it, as they fear it could result in an escalation of conflicts.
