Russia continued its bombings on Ukraine’s already-damaged electrical system on Wednesday, seemingly motivated by its desire torment Ukrainians as winter approaches.
Authorities in Kyiv, the nation’s capital, said that an attack on a two-story building resulted in the deaths of three persons. Power outages were recorded by Ukrainian officials in many cities, including certain areas of Kiev, as well as in Moldova, a neighbouring country.
Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, wrote on Telegram that “one of the infrastructural facilities in the capital has been damaged,” injuring one person.
A meeting of the U.N. Security Council to examine the most recent assaults has been scheduled for later on Wednesday, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who said he had instructed the nation’s envoy to the organization to seek the meeting urgently.
Zelenskyy declared that killing civilians and destroying civilian infrastructure were both terrorist activities. “Ukraine maintains calling for the international community to take firm action against these crimes.”
The United States announced that it is sending another $400 million worth of ammunition and generators to Kiev as the attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure continued, bringing the total amount of U.S. support to more than $19 billion throughout the nine-month conflict.
