Rescue workers are concerned that there may still be people trapped in the debris.

On June 30, in a region 200 kilometers from Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, between the cities of Kericho and Nakuro, dozens of people perished in a traffic accident.

According to witnesses who spoke to the local media, the brakes failed and the truck driver lost control. The car slammed into seven vehicles before sliding into a ditch.

When they arrived on the site, the police reported that 51 people had passed away. It will take some time for us to ascertain the precise number of victims because it is now getting dark and raining where we are, local police commander Tom Odera told the Associated Press.

The Kenyan Red Cross Society reported that the search was tough due to the torrential rain and unfavorable weather.

According to doctors, the death toll could reach 55 because of the bad weather and the challenges of the search.

William Ruto, the president of the Republic of Kenya, tweeted his sympathies to the victims’ families.
