Rivers Was Safe and Peaceful Under My Watch – Fubara Reacts to Suspension

Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara insists the state was secure and stable under his leadership, pushing back against allegations that led to his suspension.
Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State, currently facing challenges, has pledged to collaborate with all pertinent institutions to uphold the strength of democracy within the state.
This commitment follows President Bola Tinubu’s decision to suspend him for six months and to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State.
The President’s actions were aimed at restoring order in the state amid the ongoing conflict between Fubara and Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Additionally, Tinubu appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas as the administrator to manage governance during this period.
In a nationwide address on Tuesday, the President also announced the suspension of the deputy governor of Rivers State and members of the state House of Assembly.
In response, Fubara issued a statement, asserting: “Our primary focus remains the security of lives and property, as well as enhancing the well-being and prosperity of the people of Rivers.
“While we may have political differences, effective governance continues; salaries are being disbursed, and significant projects are underway to advance the state. Most importantly, Rivers State remains safe, secure, and peaceful under our administration.
“At this pivotal moment, I call upon all citizens of Rivers to maintain peace and adhere to the law. We will work with all relevant institutions to ensure the resilience of our democracy and the continued progress of Rivers State.
“We are a resilient community, and we will confront this challenge with wisdom, patience, and steadfast faith in the democratic process.”
