Rivers State Responds to Allegations of NNPCL Shutdown, Calls It ‘Propaganda

The Rivers State government has refuted a social media report claiming that Governor Siminalayi Fubara closed down the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and other oil companies in the state.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Warisenibo Joe Johnson, the Rivers government declared that the report is both false and entirely fabricated propaganda.

The Rivers State Government has been made aware of a false news item circulating on social media claiming that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is shutting down NNPCL and all oil companies in Rivers State.

The report was not only false but also a fabricated piece of propaganda stemming from the imagination of its author and adversaries of the State. Additionally, it was disseminated through an insignificant and unverified platform.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara is dedicated to upholding the rule of law and refrains from using unconventional or crude methods in addressing governance issues.

We urge the people of Rivers and all well-meaning Nigerians to disregard this false report, as Governor Fubara never considered or directed any unnecessary order to shut down the economy for any reason.
