Tensions rise in Rivers State as a party spokesman alleges Okocha is maneuvering to force former Governor Rotimi Amaechi out of the party.

The faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led by Emeka Beke has accused Tony Okocha of attempting to push former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi out of the party.

The Beke faction claimed that Okocha’s intentions were the reason behind his recent attacks on Amaechi.

On Monday, Okocha characterized Amaechi as an unsuccessful politician who was unable to bring any projects to Rivers State during his tenure as Minister.

Darlington Nwauju, the faction’s spokesman, called on APC stakeholders to question Okocha’s choice to damage others’ reputations for political gain.

In his statement, Nwauju questioned why former Governor Amaechi’s name has become the sole currency that Tony Okocha and his group can use for their political trade by barter.

Tony Okocha’s sole aim in attempting to create a divide within the APC family is to provoke key stakeholders such as Amaechi and drive him out of the political party he worked hard to establish in Rivers State.
