The governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has stated that he will stop at nothing to keep the state peaceful.
Shortly after returning from Abuja, where he had attended a peace conference facilitated by President Bola Tinubu regarding the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, the governor made the statement in an impassioned voice at the 3rd Convocation ceremony of Pamo University of Medical Sciences in Rivers State.
Prior to his arrival in Rivers, the peace accord was met with strong emotions from the public. Numerous individuals characterised it as unfair and a plot to remove the governor from office through impeachment by means of a legislature presided over by supporters of his adversary, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking to the packed Pamo University auditorium, Fubara said, “Let me thank everyone here for your prayers. I have something to say to my beloved state. Because of the support you have given me over this time, I refer to it as my darling state. It is incalculable.
“I want you to know that I will continue to pay for peace, no matter how much it costs.”
The governor left everyone wondering if he had signed the peace accord that has sparked outrage throughout the state.
Speaking to Nigerian Tribune in Port Harcourt, some speakers characterised the eight-point peace agreement as significantly distorted, manipulated, and biassed against Governor Fubara and his group. Some even claimed it was hurriedly put together.
