Rivers: Fubara criticizes attack on supporters, highlighting absence of single authority over violence

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed his disappointment on Thursday regarding the attacks on his supporters by alleged troublemakers supported by the outgoing Local Government Council chairmen.

Fubara made this statement while announcing the start of the construction of the N80.3 billion, 33.5-kilometre Elele-Egbeda-Omoku Road dual carriageway and bridge project in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers.

In the midst of a power struggle with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the governor cautioned that those who engage in violence against innocent citizens under the guise of politics would not be pardoned.

Fubara expressed his regret over the recent attacks on his supporters following the inauguration of the Aleto-Ogale-Ebubu-Eteo Road project, emphasizing that violence is not the solution.

He urged the local government chairmen, who have limited time left in office, to behave peacefully and avoid unnecessary conflicts.

Furthermore, the governor promised to ensure the responsible management of the state’s resources during his tenure, emphasizing his commitment to serving the people’s interests without any distractions.
