Rivers Crisis: “You’re Losing 2-0, More Defeats Coming” – Wike Warns Fubara

Amid the ongoing Rivers political crisis, Nyesom Wike has told Governor Siminalayi Fubara that he is already “down 2-0” and should expect more setbacks. Read the latest updates on the power tussle.
Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State, has expressed doubts about the likelihood of his successor, Siminalayi Fubara, succeeding as governor.
Wike, speaking to a large gathering of his supporters in the state on Saturday, stated that the governor is surrounded by individuals who do not have the state’s best interests at heart.
He stated that these were the same individuals who desperately wanted the position he assigned to Fubara, but he rejected their attempts.
Wike taunted Fubara, remarking that the governor was already facing a score of 2-0. He referenced the Supreme Court’s decision requiring Fubara to resubmit the 2025 budget to Martin Amaewhule and his group of 27 lawmakers, as well as to reorganize local government elections in the state.
“You [Fubara] surrounded yourself with individuals who aspired to be governor, and I advised that ‘no, these people do not have the best interests of Rivers State at heart.’”
They are the people around you, offering their guidance. Do you believe you’ll succeed?
“They’re offering poor guidance, and just look at the impact it’s having on you. You’re already trailing 2-0, with more challenges ahead.”
