In addition, they pledged to fortify the party’s unity and protect the nation’s democracy.

The Governors’ Forum of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has praised President Bola Tinubu’s participation in the Rivers State conflict and urged all sides to lay down their swords.

The governors met in the Oyo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja on Tuesday night to discuss the crisis in the oil-rich state as well as other national issues. Following their meeting, the governors released a communiqué.

The statement signed by the Forum Chairman and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, stated that the PDP Governors were concerned by the recent events in Rivers State and welcomed the President’s intervention to stop the problems.

All stakeholders involved in the Rivers State crisis were asked to put down their weapons and pursue peaceful solutions during the meeting. The Forum additionally provides its forum for the swift and equitable containment of the pertinent concerns.

The crisis in the oil-rich state that resulted in an attempt to remove Governor Sim Fubara from office preceded Tuesday’s meeting.

Since then, a divisive speaker has surfaced in the Rivers State House of Assembly, and Edison Ehie was dismissed by the House leader following accusations that he orchestrated the late-Sunday fire incident at the Assembly premises.

In a meeting with a group of leaders from the South-South that same day in Abuja, Wike also promised that the PDP will settle the dispute peacefully.

The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had earlier urged the parties to put down their swords and find a peaceful solution.

The party has “commenced processes, using the Party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms to ensure that all matters and areas of disagreement are addressed,” according to a statement released by PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba.

“Therefore, the NWC calls on all leaders, important stakeholders, and members of our great Party in Rivers State to come together, stand as one, and concentrate on the difficult task of governance and providing the people with the dividends of democracy,” he continued.
