Rivers crisis escalates as LG Chairman verbally attacks Gov Fubara

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has come under fire from Samuel Nwanosike, the local government chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers State, who has called him a “foolish governor” and ignorant.

Nwanosike is a supporter of the late Governor Nyesom Wike. Due to a struggle for control inside the state, Fubara and Wike—who is currently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory—became increasingly estranged in 2023.

“Today, Fubara is a foolish Governor; he’s not a’mumu’ Governor but a foolish Governor because since he took office on May 29th, he has done nothing for Rivers people,” the man declared. “Any day the likes of Chijioke sent by Fubara insults Wike, I’ll insult Fubara.”

The claim that Wike intended to seize Rivers State is untrue, according to Nwanosike, who also added that Fubara “is very naive and doesn’t know what governance is all about.” By now, the local government would have been sending him to Rivers State if he understood what governance was all about.

“Go to the Igirita roundabout at Eleka Road and Igirita Market; it’s a deathtrap where you can’t get out. Everywhere throughout Rivers State, there are kidnappings, and you claim to be the governor.
