Under Martin Amaewhule’s leadership, the House of Assembly has decided to stop all spending by Governor Siminalayi Fubara until his budget is presented for review and approval by the House.
The lawmakers gave Governor Fubara a seven-day ultimatum to present his budget to the House before this action was taken.
The motion was presented by Major Jack, who serves as the Leader of the House. He informed members that the governor’s seven-day ultimatum had lapsed and consequently it was decided to close down Rivers State Consolidated Revenue Account.
After careful consideration, the House decided to bar Governor Fubara’s administration from using any state funds until they present and undergo budget review.
