I Never Threatened Your Life, Stop the Lies – APC’s Morka Replies Peter Obi

APC spokesperson Felix Morka denies Peter Obi’s allegations of threats to his life, calling the accusations baseless and urging Obi to focus on national issues.

On Tuesday, Felix Morka, the spokesman for the All Progressives Congress (APC), accused Peter Obi, the presidential candidate from the Labour Party (LP), of fabricating claims about threats to his life.

Morka stated that, despite Obi’s claims, he never threatened the former presidential candidate or his family.

Obi accused Morka of making threats against his life after he criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration in his New Year message.

He inquired whether he had “truly crossed the line” following supposed threats against his life, family, and colleagues.

Obi made his allegation in response to a statement attributed to Morka during an interview with Arise TV on Sunday. In the interview, Morka mentioned that “Peter Obi has crossed the line numerous times and should take responsibility for whatever consequences come his way.”

In response, Morka claimed that Obi misrepresented his words and insisted that he never issued any threats against him. He emphasized the need for the former Anambra State governor to clarify the situation.

In a statement he signed, the APC spokesperson mentioned: “On his verified official X account, Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, claimed that ‘my New Year Message has now resulted in threats to my life, my family, and those around me.’”

Although I have received various messages, a certain Mr. Felix Morka has taken it a step further by accusing me of “crossing the line” and warning that there will be consequences. It seems Mr. Obi’s claim refers to Morka’s response during an interview on AriseTV’s THIS WEEK program on Saturday, January 4, 2025.

For clarification and documentation purposes, Morka neither threatened Mr. Obi, his family, associates nor anyone else. There is no reason for Morka to do so; he has never made any threats towards Obi or anyone at all.

In that interview and in any other setting, Morka did not express or imply a threat against Mr. Obi or anyone else, as confirmed by the exact transcription of the relevant portion.

Mr. Obi’s claim that Morka threatened his life is an obviously malicious falsehood, designed to gain attention by playing the victim and attempting emotional manipulation. His accusation is blatantly untrue and disgraceful.

By inaccurately alleging that Morka threatened his life, Mr. Obi has severely libeled Morka and provoked his online followers to issue death threats against both Morka and his family members.

This is unacceptable. As a public figure, Mr. Obi has the responsibility to deliver accurate and truthful information. However, he has opted to spread falsehoods in an attempt to mislead Nigerians for political gain and relevance instead.

We urge Mr. Obi to promptly correct the misinformation, retract his false allegation against Morka, and advise his online supporters accordingly. Morka is prepared to pursue all necessary options in defending his integrity and outstanding reputation.

As the National Spokesperson for the ruling party, I am committed to holding Obi and other opposition figures accountable for their actions, just as they have a right—and should continue—to hold our esteemed party and administration accountable when truth and public trust are in question.
