Rivers Assembly instructs Commissioner-Nominees to bow out gracefully
The Rivers State House of Assembly made a request to the nine commissioners who had resigned to leave their positions.
The parliament, led by Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule, invited the commissioner-nominees for screening as part of the peace agenda signed by Governor Sim Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. The nominees included Zacchaeus Adangor, Dr. Jacobson Mbina, Dr. Gift Worlu, Mrs. Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma, Engr. Chukwuemeka Woke, Prof. Prince Chinedu Mmom, Dr. George-Kelly D. Alabo, Hon. Isaac Kamalu, and Engr. Austin Ben Chioma. During the plenary at the Legislative Quarters in Port Harcourt, the Speaker read the letter from Governor Siminalayi Fubara, requesting the screening and confirmation of the Commissioner nominees.
The Majority Leader of the House, Hon Major Jack, proposed a motion that since the nominees had already been screened, there was no need to repeat the process, and they should be allowed to leave.
The motion was supported by the deputy speaker, Rt Hon Dumle Maol, resulting in the decision for the commissioner-nominees to ‘take a bow and go.’
