Governor Sim Fubara filed the motion ex parte earlier on Wednesday through his attorney, Damian Okoro (SAN).
An interim injunction prohibiting the Rivers State House of Assembly and Speaker Martin Amaewhule from taking any action pertaining to the impeachment of the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has been issued by a Rivers State High Court located in the Isiokpo Division of the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

The restraining order was also served to the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, the Clerk of the House, and Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol.
Following a lawsuit filed against the defendants, Presiding Judge Justice Ben Whyte issued an order directing the parties to maintain the status quo while the motion on notice was decided. The motion on notice was then postponed until November 14, 2023.
