Former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, and leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has reiterated that former Governor of the state of Rivers Rotimi Amaechi could not have given orders to party members and supporters in the state to vote against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.

In response to a comment attributed to Tony Okocha, whom he charged with political smear tactics, he made this statement.

The APC leader claimed in a statement made accessible to the media that the supposed bogus claim Okocha was peddling was untrue and that it was a concoction of lies deliberately planned against Amaechi by opponents who saw such involvement as required to appease their patrons.

For the umpteenth time, he stated, it should be highlighted that the aforementioned Okocha had no involvement with the APC during the time leading up to the election and had no knowledge of its operations.

The APC leader also praised Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the party’s national chairman, for turning down Okocha and company, whom he referred to as Wike’s conflict mercenaries, for meeting with him.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, Okocha led a group of his associates to the APC National Secretariat.

Eze claimed that the purpose of the gathering was to get Ganduje’s agreement to carry out their smear operations against Amaechi and the mainstream APC state leadership in Rivers.

“Okocha and his team were disappointed when Abdullahi Ganduje warned them not to heat up the polity and let the leadership of the party at the central work out modalities to calm frayed nerves and resolve every issue affecting the party in the state,” he said.

He emphasised that Amaechi cannot be expelled from the APC by Wike, Okocha, or any other person in their circle.
