Amid escalating tensions, American forces in the Middle East have been targeted for a second time within days.

According to a US defense official, Reuters reported on Saturday that an unmanned aerial vehicle attacked American troops at the Rumalyn Landing Zone in northeastern Syria.

Amidst escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, an attack on US forces in the Middle East has occurred for the second time within a week. On Monday, Al-Asad Airbase in Iraq was hit by rockets resulting in injuries to multiple US service members.

According to an anonymous US defense official cited by Reuters, preliminary accounts suggest no injuries have been reported but medical assessments are still underway. An evaluation of the damage is currently in progress following the Syrian drone strike.

Based on online footage, there is a possibility that the drone attack resulted in a fire at the establishment.

According to Axios on Monday, Washington is anticipating additional strikes as some of its soldiers sustained injuries during the attack at Al-Asad Airbase. Additionally, Israel has been preparing for a potential assault from Iran since Hamas political bureau leader Ismail Haniyeh was assassinated in Tehran last week. Although both Iranian officials and the extremist organization have accused Israel of orchestrating Haniyah’s death, no confirmation or denial regarding any participation by Israeli authorities has yet come forth.

Following the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, which resulted in approximately 1,200 deaths and over 250 hostages being taken, West Jerusalem pledged to eradicate the leadership of this group.

The previous confrontation between Tehran and West Jerusalem came to a close when Iran launched an extensive missile and drone strike against Israel in April. The air defenses of the Jewish state were greatly bolstered by their allies, including the US, UK, as well as local partners.
