Rivers: The Labour Party calls on INEC to void Wike’s local government election and four others
Julius Abure, the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to call off the polls in the Rivers counties of Obio/Akpor, Khana, Eleme, Obigbo, and Rumukoro.
According to PlatinumPost, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike is a native of the Obio/Akpor local government.
In a statement he released on Sunday in Abuja, Abure made the call.
He claims that the Labour Party’s leadership is in disbelief over the information coming out of Rivers State following the Saturday elections for the national Assembly and the presidency.
Thugs, according to Abure, broke into different polling places and centres for results collation and stole election supplies, including the results sheets.
The thugs, according to him, also uploaded phoney results into the central site while manipulating the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) equipment, which is another accusation.
We paid close attention to events that occurred in locations like Obio/Akpor, Khana, Eleme, Obigbo, Rumukoro, and a number of other localities where the Labour Party was unmistakably winning by significant margins in nearly all of the polling units.

Nigerians entered this election believing INEC’s claims that the deployment of BVAS was the ideal countermeasure to electoral fraud in Nigeria.
But if allowed to continue, what happened in Nigeria “is just a breach of confidence of millions of Nigerians by INEC,” Abure said.
He claimed that these thugs intimidated INEC staff into doing their bidding and coerced them into manipulating the BVAS in cooperation with military personnel and police officers who were sent to safeguard them.
Some of these manipulations, according to Abure, took place in the wee hours of the morning.
“We demand that INEC look into these atrocities committed by the political class against Nigerian voters.
“We are therefore requesting that INEC rise to the occasion and nullify all results from the presidential and national assembly elections that have been found to have been manipulated in some areas of Rivers State.
In particular, in locations like Obio/Akpor, Khana, Eleme, Obigbo, and Rumukoro, among others, stated Abure.
