The Independent National Electoral Commission has ruled that the Kogi State 2023 Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu House of Representatives election is still open for interpretation (INEC).
In two voting units of the federal constituency, the results were cancelled due to a discrepancy in the winning margin.
When the results were declared inconclusive in Kabba on Sunday, the returning officer, Dr. Adams Baba, stated that the winner, Arch Salman Idris of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the APC candidate, Kolawole Matthew, did not have a difference in the results that was equal to the number of registered voters in the polling places that were cancelled.

“The ADC candidate polled 13867 while the APC polled 13605 leaving just 262 votes difference, whereas the number of PVC collected in the cancelled polling units of Iya in Otu ward in Kabba/Bunu LGA (485) and Open Space polling unit in Egbeda ward of Ijumu LGA (100) is higher than the difference.”
Yet the returning officer omitted to say when the impacted polling places will hold a second election.
APC garnered 13,605 votes, followed by ADC 13867, PDP 10967, and SDP, NNPP, and other parties with the remaining votes. There were 41,246 accredited voters in the ballot.
