Resign from PDP Now – Bala Mohammed Urges Wike
Governor Bala Mohammed has called on Nyesom Wike to resign from the PDP, intensifying the political rift within the party amid ongoing internal tensions.
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has urged Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to resign from the Peoples Democratic Party due to alleged anti-party activities.
Bala Mohammed, who accused the FCT Minister of prioritizing the interests of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), suggested that it would be more appropriate for him to officially join the APC.
He described Wike’s efforts to damage his reputation as both desperate and ineffective, asserting that Nigerians can see through the minister’s supposed façade.
remembers that the Bauchi governor criticized Wike on Thursday, labeling him a “transactional politician” whose loyalty changes according to his personal ambitions.
In response, Wike criticized Mohammed through a statement issued by his media aide, Lere Olayinka, accusing him of being a self-serving politician.
Olayinka called on the governor to cease using President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of the minister as an excuse for his “inability to lead effectively as chairman of the party’s Governors’ Forum.”
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, Mohammed, who also serves as the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, responded to Wike’s recent criticisms. He characterized them as reckless, deceptive, and indicative of diminishing political influence.
He accused Wike of repeatedly betraying others, mentioning figures like Senator John Azuta Mbata, Dr. Peter Odili, and Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi as victims of Wike’s supposed treachery.
The statement went on to criticize Wike’s time in office, labeling him a “use-and-dump” politician responsible for internal turmoil within the PDP. It alleged that he orchestrated the downfall of successive party leaders such as Uche Secondus and Iyorchia Ayu.
Nyesom Wike should remember that although he imagines divisions and factions within the PDP, the party remains steadfast and united. This stands in contrast to a handful of defectors led by him who are intent on undermining it for the advantage of the APC, where he now serves as an eager ally.
Under the vibrant and visionary leadership of Sen. Bala Mohammed, the PDP Governors Forum along with the party’s main bodies, such as the BOT, are diligently and quietly working to cleanse the party from Wike’s treachery and deceit.
A true member of the PDP, committed to tirelessly retiring the APC in 2027—whose failed policies Wike has pledged to support for re-election—is not destined for such a path of ruin.
Wike’s behavior does not diminish Bala Mohammed’s accomplishments. His outburst reflects the desperate plea of someone whose political influence is waning.
“The period for making noise has passed; now it is time to focus on governance. Wike should reflect on his actions and do the honorable thing: RESIGN AND FULLY JOIN THE APC, which he appears eager to serve. Until then, his words will be as empty as his loyalty,” the statement declares.
