In Yola village, Karaye Local Government region, Kano State, a number of locals are said to have been kidnapped, and hundreds are thought to have been killed as a result of a string of bandit attacks on the region.

A villager who talked to OBASANJO NEWS24 on the condition of anonymity claimed the occurrences happened on Saturday at various times throughout the area, but he was unable to say how many people were slain or kidnapped.

I was informed that two individuals were killed and two were kidnapped on the first day of the attack, and two were slain and two were kidnapped on the second. It is clear from these attacks that Karaye requires the presence of army installations,” he stated.

The local governments of Karaye and Rogo have reportedly recently faced major security concerns as a result of Rogo’s proximity to the states of Katsina and Kaduna.

Alhaji Nasiru Na’ayya, a well-known merchant in Gangarbi Village of the Rogo LGA of Kano State, was abducted by bandits at some point in April 2023, and one person was killed in the process.

However, it was also claimed that the Karaye Emirate had raised the alarm in 2021 regarding the influx of illegal miners from Zamfara into the emirate and had developed various steps to solve the issues.

Migrant registration in the emirate is one of the measures implemented, according to sources close to the emirate.

Attempts to contact DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the state’s police leadership, were unsuccessful since he didn’t answer calls placed to his lines.
