The Benue State Emergency Management Agency, or BSEMA, has warned state people to leave, especially those who live in locations that are prone to flooding.

In a statement released on Monday by Terfa Anar, Principal Media Aide to BSEMA ES, Sir James Anodoakaa Iorpuu, Acting Executive Secretary, stated that the occurrence came as a result of water being released from Cameroon’s LAGDO-DAM over the River Benue.

He said that the organisation has launched a campaign to educate and raise awareness about the need for residents in at least 22 local government areas who live near the banks of the River Benue to be vigilant.

James Iorpuu further urged the locals to relocate to safer land, noting that public schools had been set aside for them.

Achusa, Idye, Wurukum Market, Genabe, Industrial Layout, Demekpe, Wadata Market, Rice Mill, Inongun, Agbohough, Judges Quarters, and Gyado Villa are some of the flood-prone locations in Makurdi, the state capital.
