Residents of Anambra reject Ekpa’s request to stay at home
On Friday, the people of Anambra State ignored a warning from a part of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) that is loyal to Simon Ekpa.
Even though Simon Ekpa told his followers to stay home for five days, this is how normal business is done in towns all over Anambra State.
A reporter for Obasanjonews24 who went around Awka and got information from other parts of the state said that markets, banks, schools, and other public buildings were all open for business.
The IPOB has been the subject of a heated power struggle between Nnamdi Kanu’s side and Simon Ekpa’s affiliate in Finland. Kanu’s detention appears to have given Ekpa the chance to take charge.
The Kanu part of the party, on the other hand, sent out a counter-press release through its spokesperson, Emma Powerful, telling everyone to do their regular jobs.
Also, one of Kanu’s lawyers, Nnaemeka Ejiofor, said in a recent phone message that Powerful was told that he was one of the lawyers who had gone to see Kanu.
“Onyendu (our leader) stated I should urge Emma Powerful to rebroadcast this message, that those ordering sit-at-home in December when our people should be getting ready to go home for Christmas are the actual enemies of our people,” the man claimed.
“They are taking this action to prevent my release,” I said. Even if they share our language and are Igbo, they can no longer be considered our people.
Ekpa had made the arbitrary decision to stay home for five days without giving a reason. He specified that the exercise would be carried out on December 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14.
